Abstract
Sense8 proposes a queer utopian futurity where love, empathy, and the power of collective action defeat the evils present in an exclusionary, monophonic, and corrupt world. This power springs from the malleable and liquid quality of the main cluster’s communal conscience that, trespassing physical and mental boundaries, blurs the distinction between individuality and commonality. In this vein, sensate masculine identity is depicted as provisional and inconclusive, anchored in certain notions of heteronormative masculinity, but optimistically departing from them to accommodate new queer and trans* potentialities. The chapter discusses the hegemonic and toxic masculinity represented in male sapiens and villainous sensoria and then moves to an analysis of the alternative offered in the main cluster and its acolytes, imbued with a trans condition of in-betweenness that turns masculinity into something liquid, precarious, and always in the making, linked to the essence of being-singular-plural.
